Stay in Miranda

Miranda

Miranda, a serene coastal settlement in New Zealand, is located on the western shores of the Firth of Thames. Renowned for its natural beauty and tranquil ambience, Miranda is a haven for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. The Miranda Shorebird Centre, a key attraction, is famous for its diverse bird population, including the migratory godwits and red knots that travel from the Arctic each year. The expansive mudflats and tidal estuaries provide a perfect habitat for these birds, making it a must-visit spot for ornithologists and photographers alike.

Apart from its rich avian life, the area boasts several walking and cycling trails that traverse through lush farmland and along the coast, providing an excellent opportunity to experience the serene landscapes and unique wildlife of this charming part of New Zealand. Notably, the Hauraki Rail Trail, which passes right in front of our place, offers a scenic route all the way to Coromandel, making it a perfect adventure for those looking to explore the region's natural beauty by bike or on foot.
